Needles Skips????

When I first started deejaying we had low buget Technics and Needles.They would skip like crazy in the middle of a mix or a scratch.Well any way I figerd out that if you put a couple of pennys on top of the cartridge it would never skip.Not the best way to make the needles last but never the less it got me by.....
