Sharing.... "Special Moment"

 TAKE HOLD OF EVERY MOMENT

A friend of mine opened his wife's underwear drawer and picked up a silk paper wrapped package:

"This, - he said - isn't any ordinary package."

He unwrapped the box and stared at both the silk paper and the box.

"She got this the first time we went to New York, 8 or 9 years ago. She has never put it on. Was saving it for a special occasion.
Well, I guess this is it. He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other clothings he was taking to the funeral house, his wife had just died. He turned to me and said:

"Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion".
I still think those words changed my life.

Now I read more and clean less.

I sit on the porch without worrying about anything.

I spend more time with my family, and less at work.
I understood that life should be a source of experience to be lived up to, not survived through. I no longer keep anything. I use crystal glasses every day. I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if i feel like it.

I don't save my special perfume for special occasions, I use it whenever I want to. The words "Someday..." and "One Day..." are fading away from my dictionary. If it's worth seeing, listening or doing, I want to see, listen or do it now. I don't know what my friend's wife would have done if she knew she wouldn't be there the next morning, this nobody can tell. I think she might have called her relatives and closest friends.
She might call old friends to make peace over past quarrels. I'd like to think she would go out for Chinese, her favourite food. It's these small things that I would regret not doing, if I knew my time had come.

I would regret it, because I would no longer see the friends I would meet, letters... letters that i wanted to write "One of this days".
I would regret and feel sad, because I didn't say to my brothers and sons, not times enough at least, how much I love them.
Now, I try not to delay, postpone or keep anything that could bring laughter and joy into our lives.
And, on each morning, I say to myself that this could be a special day.
Each day, each hour, each minute, is special.
If you got this, it's because someone cares for you and because, probably, there's someone you care about.
If you're too busy to send this out to other people and you say to yourself that you will send it "One of these days", remember that "One day" is far away... or might never come. .

it's times like these that I love to experience, we all learn from one another and take the time that is needed to share.....we enbrace each new day and take what we read to heart...I know I learn from everyone here, and it's the people who make this Disco community thrive and grow....We don't have anyone saying, "you cannot post that", or "anyone telling us how to live our lives"...as long as we respect each other and everyone else... that is what these websites aim for, and they also represent  UNITY, HAPPINESS, JOY AND OF COURSE, DISCO MUSIC......My hats off to you and individuals like you TSG...who speak from the heart and soul and who spread comfort, love and goodness around....you can see with your post that you are a kind and loving person...this world needs more people like yourself...love you girl, and again, I love your post...

Thanks Eva!

Finding these message boards with people like you and the rest of the crew that I have met and yet to meet, has brought me joy and many smiles.  I can't express what I feel everytime I think of eveyone here and knowing that only yesterday we were all partying in the same places dancing to the same music that once again... we are very lucky and fortunate to share.

I get kind of mushy sometimes but it's the truth.

Wow! So simple yet difficult. I think most people suffer from short term memory....ask yourself.... How many times have we told ourselves this is the year I will comply with my resolutions, or yet, have you called or made contact with those you miss and always place them on the back burner because you know they are there. Just do it! Tomorrow is another day with no guarantees. I believe in living today! Perhaps that's probably what makes my wife nervous. I'm a gadgetholic! And I buy them like there's no tomorrow!!!

Life is Live.......

I'VE BEEN DEEPLY TOUCHED. WHAT YOU SAY IS THE HONEST TRUTH. TEARS LITTERALLY ARE RUNNING DOWN MY EYES AS I'M WRITING THIS. I MYSELF LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST. I TRY AND SPEND AS MUCH TIME WITH MY BEAUTIFUL WIFE & TWO WONDERFUL KIDS, ALONG WITH MEMBERS OF MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY & CLOSE FRIENDS. LIFE IS SOMETHING PRECIOUS & ONLY COMES ONCE. SO LIVE IT LIKE IT MAY BE YOUR LAST DAY. NEVER TAKE LIFE FOR GRANTED. HAVE FUN, DON'T WORRY ABOUT TOMMOROW, BECAUSE HEY THE TRUTH IS THERE MIGHT NOT BE ONE. AS BAD AS THAT SOUNDED IT MAY BE TRUE FOR SOME OF US. SO LIVE TO THE FULLEST & EMBRACE EVERYONE, ENJOY, BE POSITIVE & LIFE WILL PLAY IT'S PROPER ROLE.
LOVE TO ALL IN DISCOLANDIA. PEACE.

TSG...thank you for being so "from the heart!"  That's what I love about this site...most of us are!  I know that ever since I lost my grandma...which has barely been a month ago...my perspective of life has changed dramatically.  I'm still in a daze about her not being around me physically but the spirit of life she had is now deeply embedded in my heart and I WANT to live like she did!  To share, I hope you all don't mind...but I feel like sharing a poem I wrote for her which is an excerpt from my eulogy of her.  This poem will be featured in a poem compilation book this year too.  She is my inspiration for everything these days...especially to dance while I still can!  Well anyways...here's my poem for her...To my Grandma...My Pink Orchid

Our Pink Orchid
by Gina Marie Arzaga

Her life was as a beautiful flower;
a beautiful pink orchid.
She was full of color and strength.
Standing tall greeting each day
with vigor, song and dance.
She poured herself out to us like
the fragrance of the orchid.
When she walked in the room her
presence was known.
Just as a pink orchid stands out in
a bouquet of flowers,
even among roses.
Her spirit of life was
festive and sparkly.
She enjoyed singing for all to hear.
Her presence was so beautiful and
she always smelled so sweet.
Like a beautiful flower,
Our Pink Orchid,
in our garden of love.
