HEALTH NEWS - On Wednesday officials from AIDS Healthcare Foundation and the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services unveiled a partner notification Web site. The free, anonymous service allows users to notify people of possible STD or HIV exposure through an e-card. The Web site contains information on testing and treatment services.
The Web site call inSPOTLA is aimed at increasing early STD and HIV diagnosis and treatment, and, thus, reducing transmission.
"This website will be a powerful tool in reducing the spread of STDs, including HIV, in L.A. County," said Jonathan Fielding, MD, MPH, Director of Public Health and Health Officer, Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. "By giving people an easy way to notify their sex partners, 'inSPOTLA' will enable more people to get tested and treated early for HIV and other STDs, preventing complications and helping stop the chain of infection."
